People of God and Family of Bread of Life
On behalf of the council I would like to update you on how we will be responding during the COVID-19 period we find ourselves in.
We had a very thoughtful conversation at the council meeting on March 12, 2020. In that discussion we shared our concerns, hopes and aspirations on how we can still come together as a community despite the challenges.
We will be heeding the advice shared by many others(including our national & synodical Bishops - http://elcic.ca/documents/2020...
. For this week’s service this is what we will be observing as we gather
• Sharing of the Peace; rather than shaking of hands or hugs we will greet each other with a smile, a nod of the head or any other welcoming gesture.
• Communion; we will be still be offering communion. It will be altered slightly with bread only being served. We have struggled with this decision but feel it is the most prudent at this time to not serve wine. Neither the common cup nor the individual glasses will be offered at this time.
• Passing of the offering; we will have a common basket available for all to leave their offering at the end of the service.
We have wrestled with these changes to our order of service. In a time like this we all feel that our faith is a foundation that we count on at times of uncertainty. We hope as a council that you will understand our decisions.
Please continue to follow all of the recommendations by our health care professionals.
We will make every effort to stream the sermons in the coming weeks. If there are any other updates on the Sunday service we will update via email and here on Facebook.
