News from the Regina Lutheran Refugee Committee:

We are excited to report that Syrian refugees Walaa (age 22), her husband Mohammad (age 25) and their baby boy Amer will be coming to Regina very soon (we hope in May). On February 3 they were interviewed at the Canadian consulate in Amman, Jordan, and they have been accepted into Canada! Walaa has Type 1 diabetes and has not been able to get a reliable supply of insulin in the refugee camp. But we can help her get her insulin here, and give this family the chance for a new life.

Now is the time for our ELCIC congregations to get ready for their arrival! If you would like to donate to the sponsorship, please make checks payable to your church and mark them Refugee Fund. As we set up a home for them, we have all the furniture we need, but we are still looking for a crib, a stroller, a high chair, and an up-to-date car seat. We also could also use donations of Pampers (six and nine and 12 month sizes), area rugs, baby blankets, individual spices, and pots and pans. Thank you for helping to welcome the stranger!

For more information or to arrange drop off please contact Doug Schneider at 306-751-0762.
