Refugee Ministry Update – Part Two. The Al Shatter family, Syria.
Our community partner for the Al Shatter’s is a group of local Muslim folks. Our partners are well-resourced with experience and expertise in refugee re-settlement. You may recall the sponsoring group inviting us to an evening meal (Iftar) during Ramadan a couple of years ago; several of us were able to take up their invitation and enjoyed a wonderful meal and met members of the family who are already well established in Regina. The application is to bring to Canada a family of six. Our partner deposited in trust with BOL the funds needed for this sponsorship almost two years ago.
The family has had interviews scheduled in Jordan with Government of Canada officials, so this file is moving forward. We hope to be able to greet the family in Regina in the next year or so and release the funds held in trust.
